Education
Caroline County Public Schools serves the educational needs of students. The district is made up of four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. In addition, there are seven private schools in the county. High school graduates and adult learners looking to embark on a higher learning career may do so at a number of local college campuses, including Germanna Community College, J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College, Rappahannock Community College, Mary Washington College, Randolph Macon College, the University of Richmond, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Virginia Union University.

Major employers in the area include CC Farmer’s Coop, ASI, Clark’s Lumber and Millwork, Dejenette Lumber Corporation, Williams Contracting, among others. Caroline County’s main industries include Farming and agriculture, lumber, construction and business. Caroline County’s location and low taxes also make it a highly appealing place to work and start up new businesses.
Attractions
There is always something to see or do in Caroline County. The Bowling Green Farmer’s Market sells a number of delicious fruits, vegetables, baked goods, plants and poultry all throughout the summer months. If one wants a fresh fruit or vegetable fix, they can easily obtain it in Caroline County. Six different producers are in the area, including a specialized organic farm and asparagus farm. The many farms in the area also provide different things to see such as llamas, horse back rides and specialty foods.
Caroline County is also known for its historical value. The many Civil War trails in the area not only provide great hiking, but they give visitors insight into what a Civil War battle was like. Other historical sites of interest include the Secretariat and Jackson Shrine. The two most well-known towns of Caroline County, Bowling Green and Port Royal, always offer points of interest and cultural activities for residents.
Parks and Recreation
Golfers will enjoy three great courses in the area: Mattaponi Springs Golf Club, Pendleton Golf Club and the Four Winds Golf Club. The Virginia Sports Complex is a comprehensive sports center that has baseball fields, basketball courts, and a number of other sporting events and teams. There are also three local parks located throughout the county, each with different amenities to better suit the needs of residents.
